The classic headcanon - Shadow is a fiend for coffee. Shadow has spent his entire life on the ARK rarely eating proper meals and only eating coffee beans.

Since he was in stasis for 50 years and spent most of his life on the ARK, he can be naive about modern and/or Earth customs.

Favorite color: Blue. Several reasons for this— some he might not admit to.

Hates sweets.

As the Ultimate Lifeform, he does not need to sleep or eat to sustain himself. But he still may do so to indulge. He still gets tired and hungry— he just doesn't have to do anything about it.

A perfect being has a perfect, photographic memory.

He is immortal and almost entirely indestructible. He does not age; he cannot die a natural death. Very few things can actually kill him: one of them being Sonic the Hedgehog's unique, incredible power.

His time on the ARK was wrought with inhumane experiments, intended to test his physical limits, strength, and his immortality. The scientists regarded him as an object, a tool, or a monster.

Maria, and later, Gerald, were the only two individuals who treated him as a sentient individual with feelings— strengthening Shadow's attachment to them both.

While Maria was like a sister from the start, Gerald did not assume a fatherly role until later in Shadow's life— when he realized that Shadow was far more cognizant than a mere experiment, having developed into an entity with empathy, heart and soul. (Unlike his predecessor, the Biolizard.)

Shadow has an incurable sense of guilt, low self-esteem, severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, suicidal ideation, and schizophrenia. He blames himself for Maria's death, believing he failed in his duties to protect her.

He sometimes veils his insecurities with a prideful attitude. A faker, indeed.

Non-verbal when inconsolable.

Shadow speaks less during his earlier days of being on Earth, but gradually speaks more as time goes on. (Dialogue levels and speech complexity will fluctuate depending on when the interaction takes place in Shadow's life.)

He takes his duty and obligations very seriously; he is respectful, quiet and reverent with authority figures, such as Tom and Maddie Wachowski. (Sonic... not so much.)

Great at caretaking, solid understanding of medical needs. He spent several years caring for a sickly Maria.

Broods a lot. Needs a lot of alone time. But too much of it might send his ailing mind into a negative feedback loop...

No stranger to panic attacks.

Nightmares are a constant. Maria.

In his waking hours, Maria will often visit him in the form of hallucinations. He might often have a "conversation" with her, when in reality he is speaking to nothing.

Maria's imaginary presence is a double-edged sword in Shadow's life. Sometimes she provides comfort and stability, other times his grief twists her into something horrific and guilt-inducing.

Sonic, thus far, is the only individual that can both enrage him and calm him all at once. Few can understand Shadow but his rival, whom he has a complex and layered relationship with. Shadow does not even begin to comprehend it.

He has no solid concept of relationships or love— a little bit of introspection on his deeper feelings leaves him far too vulnerable, so he'd rather shut the thoughts out altogether.

Avoidant Attachment: Shadow leans avoidant, does not want to emotionally intertwine with others, and remains fiercely independent. And yet, an empty hole in his heart lingers, craving and aching for approval and affection. He does not realize this need, fearing rejection or abandonment.

Shadow deeply fears the curse of immortality, doomed to watch everyone die while he stays alive perpetually. He distances himself from others, knowing he will go through the inevitable trauma of losing them once more. The Ultimate Lifeform is fated to be alone.

• This account will have dark, angsty themes— including suicidal ideation, depictions of depression and PTSD.

• Violence and descriptive, haunting imagery may also be present.

• Shadow is not a kind or patient individual; he suffers from severe trust issues. Do not expect warmth and openness from him.

• Selective MVRP interactions accepted.

• Open to AUs.

Shipping

• Shipping is not a high priority.

• Multiship, but extremely selective.

• No ships with minor muns.

• No ships with humans.

• No plotted ships; chemistry must occur naturally and slow.

• Even then, Shadow will not want to ever consider a ship "official." That sort of thing is beyond the Ultimate Lifeform's realm of understanding.
